Our Commitment to Anonymity
Votum is built around a strict separation between who is authorized to vote and the votes themselves. Your identity is used only to confirm your eligibility and to deliver your one-time PIN. Once a ballot is cast, there is no database relationship, foreign key, or tracking token that can link a vote back to you.
Information We Collect
- Voter roster data — your email address, provided by the election organizer, used solely to issue your PIN and to record that you have voted.
- Ballot data — your selections, stored in an anonymous ballot box with no link to your identity.
- Administrative accounts — name, email, and a securely hashed password for organizers.
How Your Data Is Used
We use your information only to operate the election you were invited to: verifying eligibility, preventing double-voting, and producing aggregate results. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.
Data Retention
Voter rosters and aggregate results are retained by the election organizer for the duration they deem necessary for audit and verification purposes. Anonymous ballots are retained as part of the verifiable tally and contain no personal data.
